Urbanna

Just off the Rappahannock, Urbanna provides a unique opportunity to park your car or anchor your boat and browse from the waterfront to the town. There you will find interesting architecture spanning 300 years of history. The town has great restaurants, antique and gift shops, a neat boutique, a drug store with an old fashioned soda fountain and a general store which has been in business since 1876.

Named for the reigning Queen of England, Urbanna, City of Anne, was first established in 1680 as a port for the shipment of tobacco to England.

Urbanna

Urbanna is host to two annual festivals, Art on the Half Shell in May and the nationally known, Virginia State Oyster Festival in November, which features oysters in every way in a street party atmosphere. During the two-day event there are boating exhibits, fine arts and crafts, local entertainment, and two parades.  (From the River Country Travel Guide).
